One week after an accused drunk driver killed a motorcyclist, his family is speaking out.

Steven Fagan was riding his motorcycle on President Street when Savannah Police say a drunk driver tried to cross onto Truman Parkway and slammed into him.

Hell. That's been Carolyn Fagan's life after her grandson Steven was killed by an accused drunk driver, just days before his 25th birthday.

"How can people get in a car after drinking—I mean she was extremely drunk—she destroyed our world. She ripped our family apart," Grandmother Carolyn Fagan told WJCL 22 News.

Savannah police say Colleen Mond's BAC was twice the legal limit, and that she had left a downtown bar before getting behind the wheel.

Steven's father, Steven Sr., and his husband say they feel they're living a nightmare. But every morning are reminding this is their new sobering reality.

"One stupid decision can cause-- so much pain for someone else. He would do anything for anyone. Give them the shirt off his back-- and then he did. He did many times," Steven's father said.

"People need to know that when you get in a car, and you've been drinking, you're taking a chance of destroying people's world. The house is quiet now, it's very quiet," said Carolyn.

According to her LinkedIn, Mond works at SCAD and has for the last 15 years. We reached out numerous times to them for comment but never heard back.

Mond remains in the Chatham County Jail charged with 1st-degree vehicular homicide and DUI among other charges.

Steven's family wants to remind everyone to not drink and drive. Get an Uber, call a friend, something besides getting behind the wheel.
