There is a new, free way to cruise around Lee's Summit, Missouri.

It starts with three wheels.

"To my knowledge, there are no communities that offer it free to the community to rent," Lee's Summit Superintendent of Recreation Jodi Jordan said.

Jordan is talking about a brand-new three-wheel bike for anyone who may need them.

"We have donations for free bike rentals already, and a lot of them made suggestions, "It'd be great if you had a three-wheel bike so I can go ride with my grandkids," Jordan said.

Lees Summit Parks and Recreation applied for and received a $3,000 grant to buy three-wheel cruisers, bikes that nearly anyone could hop on. The goal -- more inclusive park opportunities in Lee's Summit."People who don't even have mobility issues that are just more comfortable on a three-wheel bike are very excited," Jordan said.

So far, the superintendent says they’ve been a massive hit for those that have ridden them.

There are currently four total three-wheeled bikes, two at the Longview Community Center and two more on the other side of Lee Summit at Legacy Park. The department hopes to add at least two more over the next year.

"This gives them the opportunity to come to our facilities, access our trails access our bikes, and no cost," Jordan said.

She adds anyone can register online or show up at the park and rent or reserve the bike for two hours.
